Vulcan Energy has signed its fourth deal in as many years with European automotive manufacturer Stellantis, agreeing to supply renewable energy to the carmaker’s Mulhouse plant in France.

Stellantis, the company behind such notable European car brands as Fiat, Jeep and Chrysler, has previously signed lithium hydroxide supply agreements with Vulcan, which will now provide The Netherlands-based company with geothermal renewable energy to decarbonise its French manufacturing plant.

Managing director Francis Wedin said Stellantis, which is also Vulcan’s biggest customer, had provided the company a complementary opportunity for it to expand into key industrial areas in France.

“Vulcan’s core mission is decarbonisation, through renewable energy and carbon neutral lithium supply,” he said.

“Vulcan is here to support Stellantis, our largest lithium customer and one of our major shareholders, to decarbonise its operations in Europe.”

Shares in the Gina Rinehart-backed lithium play were down 4.37 per cent at 6.50am this morning to trade at $3.72.
